Our first outing now that Lockdown has eased slightly was to Kedleston Hall near Derby. We’d recently joined the National Trust to give us some places to visit over the next few months and this was the first one.
It’s a country house with parkland around it. It has the usual open views from the house over the lake and there are woods to wander around too.
It was a quite frosty morning – we’d booked the first entry time at 09:30 and the takeaway food cabin wasn’t open until 10 am so we went for a walk through the Wilderness Woods. A slight mistake on the route took us to some stepping stones over the river and then back to the House and coffee.
As we returned towards the House from a longer after-coffee walk we passed through a field of sheep and lambs. It was unusual in that there were groups of eight to ten lambs sat around one sheep rather than staying with their mothers. These sets of twins were just chilling out at the bottom of the field and sat quite still posing for their photos.
