Elvaston Castle

The grounds of Elvaston Castle have always been one of our favourite places to walk. Especially when you call in for a coffee and fresh scone!

As well as paths around the grounds there are many features to look out for as well. At this time of year the Azalea garden is a colourful picture. The formal hedging areas too bring back thoughts of its heyday.

Walk around the lakes too with streams in and out along with long lost rock gardens poking out everywhere under the trees.

At the moment there are areas closed as is the cafe, the toilets too. Perhaps they’ll soon be back in service.

It is worth checking the map and wandering off to the Nature Reserve. It’s quite an expanse of space once you find it and quite different from the rest of the park and gardens.
