I’ve recently come across a searchable archive of introduction graphics to BBC Programs. Here’s a few you may remember – depending on your age of course.
Here’s a 1952 version of The Flower Pot Men on the left with a Bill and Ben intro from 2002 on the right – 50 years of advancement? I’d go for the original every time.
To the left is the Andy Pandy colour version intro from 1950. Previously, in the monochrome era, these titles had appeared on three dimensional blocks, with the letters of the name revolving into shot. In 2002 ‘Andy Pandy’ was revived as a stop-frame animation series – see right.
Here we have two versions of the intro to Record Breakers.
The one on the left from 1977 and the one on the right from 1990.
If you want to have a look yourself then this LINK will take you to the Search and Browse page. Lots of memories in these archives hosted by the Ravensbourne University London.
If you do find one that you remember and want to share with everyone then send the title and year as a comment to this post and I’ll put it online.
