We are exercising from home in line with the lockdown regulations. We decided on a little longer walk today, we’d done it before … it proved to be different today.
We were walking down towards Trent Lock and then intended to go over the fields and under the railways to return home via Trent Lane. It wasn’t to be.
You can imagine by looking at the other pictures how difficult it was to get across the muddy fields. It was when we reached the railway tunnel that we had to turn back.
We did try putting a few stones in the water in an attempt to cross – they just disappeared. We’d had wet feet coming across the mud but this would be water over the top of the boots.
It turned out to be quite a trek. It was nearly three and a half miles and took 1hr40 – slower then usual due to the mud!
Having said all that we were apparently having a better day than one boat owner. We saw this boat resting on the bottom of the canal as we walked along the towpath as a short-cut home after our expedition.

It’s a good job you two always take the appropriate footwear with you!.We did wonder if you had flooding in your area. xx
We were caught out this time – would have needed wellies for that puddle! Yes, we’ve had a few Flood Alerts concerning the River Trent but no water coming up the street just yet!
